LIfeguard Training Class
We are doing 1 more lifeguard training class. It will start Wednesday and we will take the 1st 5 people who register. You must be signed up no later than Tuesdsay the 26th if you want to do the class. Call or stop by now!

Lifeguard Classes in February
The Gym Lifeguard Class
Begins February 28th –pretest at 3:30-8:00pm
February 29th @ 3:30 pm – 8:00
March 2nd 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
March 3rd 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
March 5th 3:30pm – 8:00
March 6th 3:30 – until finished.
ABOUT THE CLASS
- You must be at least 15 years old to take the class!
- You must be present at all class days and times. Make up classes are not given
- You will do a Pre-Test on February 23rd It includes swimming 300yards without stopping (there is no time limit). Your swim must be done continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing (i.e. you cannot swim with your head out of the water) Tread water for 10 minutes (2 minutes must be done using only your legs). Complete the following in 1 minute and 40 sec. or less: Starting in the water swim 20 yards, surface dive, to a depth of 10 feet to retrieve a 10 lb object. Surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding the object and exit the water without using ladder or steps. You must pass the pre-test in order to continue with the class. You will get a full refund if you do not pass the PRE TEST.
- Class Requirements: You must participate in all the classes, and successfully pass a practical test where you demonstrate the correct rescue skills that you will learn, you must complete and pass the CPR portion of the class where you demonstrate that you know how to do CPR and 1st aid and you must pass a written test for CPR, 1st AID and Lifeguard training making at least 80% on the test. REFUNDS ARE NOT GIVEN IF YOU DO NOT PASS THE ENTIRE CLASS—classes will not be made up unless the whole class is post poned—if you can’t attend each day you need to wait to take a different class.
- All class will be taught at The GYM (across from Oneonta City Schools)
COS T: $215.00 does not include books. You will check out a book from the Gym’s library. Books must be returned at the end of the class. If you would like your own book, you may pay an additional $40 for a book. , lifeguard training, CPR and 1st Aid and all other supplies needed for the class are included . Must be registered by February 23rd 2012

Schedule Changes
Be sure you check out this week's schedule, it is slimmed down due to Spring Break. We will thicken it back up next week so please monitor the schedule closely to see when your favorite classes are being held.

The Gym (Announcements 3/3/2011)
Lots of exciting things going down at The Gym in March and with swim suit season just around the corner, you'll need to combine diet and exercise if shedding pounds is a top priority. You will need to cut about 500 calories a day to drop a pound per week.

- Swim Lessons begin this month. Group and private lessons are available. Check out the Pool Page for details and printable forms. (Simply right click on the form and print)
- Also in the pool, the Stroke Clinic begins March 7. Click here for more details.
- If you need CPR certification or Lifeguard Certification-contact us for more details. We can help you with both!
- Free Boot Camp every Saturday in March for the ladies. Meet from 8:30 to 9:30 with Barbara (a personal trainer) to get a free workout-bring all your friends. Here's what Barbara has to say about this Saturday's camp.
